I grew up playing Loteria with my family and Star Wars with everyone else. I come from a family of artists and am a devout Star Wars freak, even after the prequels and cartoons. I also plays bass and guitar in some Austin bands.

Below are the latest Loteria cards. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger verison and the original card that inspired it. If you want to contact me you can drop me an email at chepo@chepo.net.

Check out the Boing Boing post on the cards! It killed my bandwidth. Pretty cool! Click here.

A lot of people have emailed me wondering if I am selling the deck of cards. I am not selling the images as a deck. I am in the process of building an actual deck in the hopes that I can get some kind of attention or meeting with Lucas Licensing. I have 16 more cards to make and then I am DONE!

November 2009

My loteria cards were recently featured in the Abrahams book Star Wars: 1,000 Collectibles Memorabilia and Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away by Stephen J. Sansweet and Anne Neumann. I got a whole page. It is a trip, and the ultimate honor (especially after getting a cease and desist from Lucasfilm for selling my art on this site).

Read more about the book here.

ABOUT ME

I'm a graphic designer who grew up playing Loteria with my family. This series fuses my Cuban/Mexican heritage with my insane love for all things Star Wars.

I comes from a family of artist. My father is renowned Southwestern artist Amado M. Peña Jr and my mother is acclaimed painter Mercedes Wanguemert-Peña. My brother Amado is also a painter and musician, and is pictured above as Luke Skywalker.

I play a lot of music. I played bass or guitar in over 40 Austin bands, including Gomez (TX), Sincola, David Garza, Sexy Finger Champs, The Peenbeets, and the Texas Sapphires.

Currently I play with Karaoke Apocalypse (aka The Dead Motley Sex Maidens), Amy Cook, Nathan Hamilton and No Deal, and The Vanity Album.

I also love Star Trek.
